This is a guided 20 kilometre off-road mountain bike ride, suitable only for over 16's with their own mountain bike. Participants should have some mountain biking experience and a reasonable fitness level, as the route goes down and up the North Downs. Bikes should be in good working order as we expect a large group and it will be difficult to stop for running repairs.
We start at Walton on the Hill, from where a bridleway leads us down and under the M25 before a short climb up to Headley Village. From there we go along to Headley Common, crossing over Stane Street - an old Roman road. At that point we have a great view of Chertley Court estate, Leatherhead and the surrounding countryside.
We then take a fast long descent down to the outskirts of Leatherhead, before crossing over the the river Mole. A steady climb takes us up through Thorncrofts past fields of Elder trees used to make Elderflower cordial.
The next stop is Bocketts Farm, where we can stop for refreshments, before continuing up a slow gradual climb with great views of Box Hill at the top. A fast descent on tarmac takes us to the bottom of Box Hill, and Riker's cafe.
A short section of road then links us to the bottom of Juniper Hill, from where a steep climb takes us to the beautiful Mickleham Downs, with wonderful views. A fast bit of bridleway links the route back to Headley Common and we retrace our steps back up to Walton on the Hill.
